Client Social: International Pinot Grigio Day

Client Social: International Pinot Grigio Day

Yes, it is an official day, we promise!

Pinot Grigio Day is celebrated annually on May 17 and is said to be the nation’s second most popular white wine. To celebrate the occasion, we partnered with Tan&ns wine importers to bring our clients and industry friends the ‘best wine tasting to date’ named by one of our members.

The evening started with a fizz reception (Pinot Grigio fizz of-course) to set the tone of the evening, paired with some canapes from Jules and team at Le Petit Coq. They served up some smoked salmon & caper bites, as well as some delicious beetroot hummus croutons.

To start the evening off we had some magic from the amazing local magician, Lorenzo, who had our guests in disbelief at his trickery, closely followed by Luigi and the Tan&ns wine team taking over. Today Tan&ns has imported over 100 styles of wine from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Hungary, Germany, Argentina, Bulgaria, Chile, Australia and South Africa. The list goes on so who better to educate our guests?

Tan&ns are the masterminds behind the wine pairings at the very popular Six By Nico so we knew we were in for a treat! Our guests were educated on all things Pinot Grigio and were quizzed as to which wine they thought was Pinot Grigio out of the 3 wines they were provided. After lots of note taking and deliberation we had some winners, and we had some losers, but it was all in good spirits at The Town House.

Here are the 5 steps to wine tasting we took away from the experts:

  1. Look: A visual inspection of the wine under neutral lighting.
  2. Smell: Identify aromas by breathing through your nose.
  3. Taste: Assess both the taste structure (sour, bitter, sweet) and flavours.
  4. Think: Develop a complete profile of the wine that can be stored in your long-term memory.
  5. Enjoy: Wine is to be enjoyed!

The evening ended with our showstopper raffle for Cancer Research UK. Local and surrounding businesses donated the likes of an overnight stay for two, restaurant and cocktail bar vouchers, sweet treats, and bespoke flower bouquets worth £100.00 to name but a few. A massive thank you to Gaucho, The Dakota, Ibis Styles, MUD Flowers, Bake Box, Whyte McKay, Madisons, and more for your generosity.

“This wine tasting event was definitely a memorable and enjoyable experience. Plus, the knowledge I gained from Luigi will help me to avoid getting a bad wine the next time I am invited to a soiree for sure!”.

Networking : International Woman’s Day at QOffices

International Woman’s Day is a day to celebrate activists on a global level, raising awareness of their work and the challenges they face. It’s also a great opportunity to network and connect with people committed to gender equality.
Marked annually on March 8th, IWD is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women’s achievements. At Quintessential Offices our locations are a workplace for many inspiring entrepreneurial women from all backgrounds so what better way than to host our first networking event celebrating exactly that: WOMEN!

Listening to women who have already travelled the path share their life experiences, knowledge, and expert advice is one of the best ways to get motivated to take action, so we hosted a panel event where we invited a number of women from different fields and backgrounds to share their story with us.

The Alchemist set the tone with some amazing canapes and cocktails on arrival for all our guests. Once the mingling of all our guests had come to an end and everyone was comfortable in our breakout area at The Town House office the womanpower began.

First up we had the amazing Gail McPake giving us a workshop on the pillars and importance of ‘Resilience’. Listening to Gail we learned resilience is so important because it’s needed to process and overcome hardship. Those lacking resilience get easily overwhelmed, and may turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms. Gail opened-up to our members and guests about her past and the hardships she has overcome, admitting it was not an easy road however tapping into her strengths and support system to overcome challenges and work through problems.

Next up we had the pleasure of listening to the female founders aiming for world domination – Amy Moore & Kirsteen Cameron. These ladies own Scotland’s biggest influencer agency, Acquires Creative. We got to hear about the process of building their business from their living room floor to now having their very own office in Uddingston, Glasgow and having their very own show on BBC.  As well as giving us the scoop on all this social media marketing, Amy and Kirsteen answered questions from our lovely guest including where they see their brand going. They have their eyes set on Dubia, so stay tuned!

To round off the evening we heard from Sharon Black & Maureen Hascoet, both very good friends with different stories to share.  Sharon opened-up about being a high-ranking soldier in the Army and the challenges she faced in this role being a woman. Along with the achievements she has gained and the people she has helped along the way. Maureen gave us an insight into the creative industry and shared her personal ups and downs of moving to a new country and diving into this sector. From having her booming businesses essentially stolen to building herself back up. Taking it back to what Gail was teaching us all in the first panel talk earlier in the evening, you could really see Maureen’s resilience to push to succeed and not give up.
